I'm surprised that the school district was allowed to sell the computers, at all. Our school district has been ridding our district of all mac computers and got around to our school, last summer. I rallied to get these computers sold or given to needy students, as they were all working computers. But, because of state environmental laws and the chance that someday, these computers could end up in the landfill and tracked back to the schools--the school district paid $25 per computer to have them recycled. Otherwise, the district could have been facing a massive fine per computer for every one that ended up in the landfill.

They'll end up on ebay for a nifty profit for some lucky buyers. Wonder if you could only buy one or a dozen? Could make a real profit.

They probably didn't really know any better until people started breaking body parts to get them. I've seen it happen lots of times. People replace computers with newer ones. They have no idea what to do with the old ones. I've gotten countless free computers this way...

Aren't school systems always crying for more money? Why in the world were they selling these things so cheap, they had to be worth more than $50.

Actually, the sale was due to the school district switching to Dell as their laptop provider.
