Even some of the more moderate members of the board voted against it for fiscally conservative reasons. The USS Hornet is docked in Oakland and loses money. SF had for decades made the military feel at home ... the Pentagon decided that it did not need SF anymore .. and I am sad to say there are still some very hard feelings there ..
