What you are doing is laudatory, Emil, but Clarence spurred me to direct a mail to the Whitehouse to suggest a government sponsored site to assist in facilitating locating loved ones during times of national disasters or emergencies - like right now - perhaps within the auspices of FEMA.

The existence of such a site needs to be widely disseminated throughout the media to be effective during a time of regional or national crisis.

Clarence, my prayers are that you will soon connect with your family and find them safe and sound.

Clarence,
Take a look at www.aidpage.com (disclosure - AidPage is my company)... It is a new service that we launched just two months ago... still in beta... and it does not yet have all the planned functionality - but it gives the basic tools for posting pages and communicating. It is absolutely free (ad supported). Give it a try - it will take you just a few minutes to make your own page and to start posting. Everybody can add useful information, comments, advice, and links on everybody else's pages. The whole idea of AidPage is to serve as a web platform for direct person-to-person mutual help.

I'm looking for ideas on how to organize the names of family who've lost contact with each other - using the internet. My Sister and her family have not been heard from since Monday. Hopefully they are in a shelter and OK, but since the long distance switchers are out there is probably a way to help them get word out or at least be able to post that they are alive. If anyone has ideas please let me know or if this already exists I would like to know that too. If we can put something like this together it will help everyone to locate family and friends to make arrangements for them as soon as they get out of New Orleans - and reduce the load on the Humanitarian Organizations that are helping everyone.
