Friends at Nola.com and the T-P
The Times has a good story today on the extraordinary work the Times-Picayune and Nola.com staffs did to keep reporting even as they saw their own lives torn apart.
I also recommend T-P Editor in Chief Jim Amos’ interview on On The Media.
And Lost Remote reports details of a fund set up for T-P staff, as many as half of whom have lost their homes.
: LATER: Great News: The T-P reporter who was lost in Mississippi has been found.

We are raising money to help journalists and all staff at The Times-Picayune in New Orleans post-Katrina.
More than 180 famlies have registered for the Friends of the Times-Picayune relief fund. The people who lost their homes include senior reporters and editors as well as sports writers, copy editors, folks who work in advertising, marketing, many pressmen and back shop folks – everyone it takes to make a newspaper. They lived in St. Bernard, New Orleans East, Lakeview – across the spectrum. Their stories are heartbreaking. Yet the paper continues to produce stellar journalism in the face of unspeakable personal hardship. They aren’t good at being victims, as you might image. They never imagined they’d be the ones in need of help.
For everyone who read NOLA.Com or for anyone who believes in great journalism — you can find more information or give on-line at http://www.friendsofthetimespicayune.com
Thanks so much,

Thank you for the great coverage. I was so happy to get back the the area and get the paper. It brought a little normalacy back to my life. I read it from first to last page on anything Katrina. Please keep up the great work and continue to hold the politicans “feet to the fire” in all their decisions. Chris Rose would make me laugh each day and also make me want to cry.
