This is too rich: The Word Network, a fundy urban gospel radio net, is buying ads on right-wing sites protesting being kicked off Sirius, allegedly so it can be “replaced with the notorious Howard Stern and other programs that insult the values of The Word Network and our millions of listeners.” Well, Howard wouldn’t be there if the PTC and other conservative Christian noseybodies hadn’t pushed the FCC into chilling free speech in this country. But, hey, let the market rule: Sirius is a company that can choose whatever programming it wants. Don’t like it? Cancel Sirius. Do like it? Buy Sirius.

Do we know who pays who? Does the word network pay to be broadcast or does Sirius pay to run it?
I was pretty annoyed when Sirius stopped broadcasting Air America and dropped the second leftwing channel. Nobody is willing to say who cancelled the agreement.
When XM elected not to include The Word Network on their platform a couple of years ago, supporters of The Word protested in a similar way, replacing Playboy Radio with Howard Stern.
Well, Howard wouldn’t be there if the PTC and other conservative Christian noseybodies hadn’t pushed the FCC into chilling free speech in this country.
That’s a circular argument if ever I saw one.
BTW, I understand some on the fringe left are extremely angry because a book publisher is providing free bibles that survivors are requesting. Funny that none of the survivors are requesting VHS copies of “Butt Bongo Fiesta”.
