VH1? What are you doin there? Did they confuse you with Eric Clapton?

  2. Gray says:

JJ, pls stop this experiment with the security code for comments.
Firstly, I dunno what it’s good for, I have never seen an automatically generated comment here. Afaik all that are posting here seem to be humans.
Secondly, after posting your comment and inserting the key, you don’t get back to the comments section. You have to go backward manually and reopen it. That’s really annoying.

    Kind-a-captcha? Kind-a-crapa, really. Grrrrr

  4. KirkH says:

I heard from an anonymous source that he’s trying out for Surreal Life 6 – Grumpy Old Bloggers edition :)

  5. Jeff Jarvis says:

Gray: I did take captcha down. It seems that spam karma puts it back up only in some cases (the machine doesn’t trust you!). I’ll figure it out with my webmaster and son. Spam Karma is good but way overeager. Thanks j

  6. Gray says:

The machine doesn’t trust me? ME? Trustworthy fellow that I am?? What is the name of the ghost in the machine, Karl Rove?

  7. Thomas says:

VHwho? Oh yeah that used to be the other station that used to play videos, the same station that’s obsessed with out of work actors/celebrities.

    Gray:
And the machine appears to abhor criticism. It just snagged three of your comments. I freed them from the net.

Now, what’s news at VH1? They wanna hire you as their new anchor?

  11. Gray says:

Hmm, Jeff, I know that this won’t be posted, just to inform you that kind-a-catcha is gone, but now spam control prevents me from posting. Yeah, I know, delete the cookie, change IP, reconnect…
But I’m too tired now to do this. I’ve contributed enough for today and there is nothing to be gained by discussing with concrete heads like Ravo.

Still, I’m wondering about those recurring problems here. I haven’t encountered another site where the comment engine is so erratic.

  12. Grrr4y says:

Hmm, imho it’s strange that it’s always me who falls victim to the machine. Kind-a-crapa is gone, but now spam control is harassing me. I’ve never had similar, erratic problems like this even when posting at right wing blogs. Can’t WordPress do better than this? Some day I’ll write them about my experience with their blogging engine…

  13. Grrr4y says:

J, pls check the log if there’s any info about the underlying reason for this strange kind of automated discrimination. Maybe it’s a simple choice of wording that causes the software to go lunatic…

  14. Jeff Jarvis says:

    can’t figure it out, gray.

  15. Rootbeer says:

Have they started production on “I Love The ’00s” already?

  16. Stan says:

Jeff did some eye openin’ yesterday!

“I’m with big guys from vH1 and you’re jealous.”

    pfffft.

  18. Grrr4y says:

Hmm, I just want to point out that the encredible amount of double postings is not a sign that I’m a complete moron (as some may have thought). In fact, when spam control goes active, postings aren’t published anymore, but are withheld for a decision of the blog owner (that’s JJ, of course). Since JJ dutifully publishes every single one of those delayed comments, that leads to some inflation. Sry, not my fault. Personally, I would prefer to delete some redundant entires in favor of a shorter thread…

  19. ha ha, and I have a nice girl ;)
