I wonder if there’s a way to discourage any of these super-worship centers no matter what the faith. Your’re no longer sitting in a pulpit as part of the conversation. You’re in the audience being lectured to. I’ve always assumed faith was good for the people who feel they need a structured belief system, but this strikes me like a college lecture hall… or I don’t know, how about a an Orwellian reeducation center.

So all Muslims are terrorists or potential terrorists, and any mosque is (to quote Kat who I hope was being flippant) “terror central”. Tosh.
If there’s a need or desire for a large mosque, and they can meet all the planning permissions, then good luck to them. London’s a world city, and this isn’t a problem, maybe it’s an opportunity.
Anyway, we’ve already got a very beautiful central London in Regents Park just opposite Lord’s cricket ground; and there’s a huge Sikh temple in Neasden, north London. We’ve even got 70,000 Americans living, studying and working in London (according to the 2001 census)
and worshiping wherever they choose to worship. London can fit ‘em all in.

Glyn–I don’t give a hot damn how lovely your mosque looks. I’m concerned about the ugliness of what goes on inside some of those mosques that preach jihad and terror. You can do that from within a shitfilled cave or a mosque.

Is a large mosque really useful to the terrorists and extremists? I’m not so sure. I think they prefer the small ones that escape scrutiny.
Whoever is the head of a congregation numbering in the tens of thousands is going to be seen as some sort of authority. Their words will be watched.
He won’t be able to advocate terrorism or radicalism unless the media rolls over for him–which they certainly will, but that’s another story…

It happens in mosques in America, why not there. No one in the media was too hard on that Finsbury Park moonbat. The problem with mosques, large or small, is that they are designed to brainwash semi-literate people, starting at age 4 or 5. And they are brainwashed with such nonsense as “Islam is the chosen religion, Arabic the chosen language, and Muslims the chosen people”. That Mohammad saw angels and talked to them. That P. Mohammad (PBUH) brought IMMUTABLE word of GOD, and said word MUST be obeyed. And ANY CRITICISM of said words is punishable by death, and any CRITICISM of P. Mohammad (PBUH) is punishable, and those who criticism Islam are morteds (deserve death).

Why is it any news article having anything to do with Muslims degenerates into a thread like this, with individuals putting forward the idea that all Mosques are terror central or some such nonsense. This is Buzzmachine, after all, not LGF.
What is happening is that Muslims are the new Jews. Whereas once it was perfectly acceptable to be an anti-Semite in polite company, it is now perfectly acceptable to be anti-Muslim. I suppose human nature requires that there always be a race, religion or ethnicity to demonize. Carry on, then, I can’t wait for someone to bring up Protocols of the Elders of Arabia.

You are one confused dude. Religion is the choice of the individual, and is not comparable to race or ethnicity that you are born into and you have no choice but to live it. To put religion, any religion, at par with race or ethnicity is a category mistake committed by the anti-progressives, who generally do not have the intellect to discern the sea difference.
I am NOT demonizing the Muslim person. I am CRITICIZING Islam, an idea, and its BELIEVERS who accept its rubbish as final truth and in faith FOR ACCEPTING this rubbish.
