{Two words refute that: Michael Huffington.} How can a gay man who used her and pretended he was straight have the slightest bearing on her politics?
He made her rich, but the price was too high, in my mind.

Ariana may be liberal right now, but she more of a political opportunist. During the Clinton Administration she was considered a friend of Conservatives. Clooney, on the other hand, is one of those old-style liberals -- not overly leftist, but also not afraid embracing the liberal title like so many "centrists" and progressives.

It's also interesting how the attacks on Clooney by Conservatives don't stick. I think a lot of it has to do with his style. He's always calm when talking about his politics. Unlike so many Hollywood Liberals he does make shrill attacks against the Bush administration. Moreover, he can hold his own. Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins are fantastic actors, well-desrving of their critical awards and praise, but whenever they are confronted by someone who disagrees with their opinion they often become shrill and dismissive.

I think calling Clooney the voice of Liberal America is bit much. There are much more deserving people out there, but I will give him credit: he's good and he's not afraid to stand up for what he believes. That hard enough to find in any person of any political persuasion. Fred Thompson is a good example on the Conservative side of the Hollywood spectrum.
