I originally used Skype because it’s free but now we all use it at the office because the sound quality is so much better. It’s kind of scary though that ISPs are considering slowing their service and charging premium rates for their old regular broadband. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4552138.stm
In Europe, some ISPs have similarly begun to block access to internet telephony services. For example, this summer reports from Germany indicated that Vodafone had begun to block Voice over IP (Voip) traffic, treating the popular Skype program as “inappropriate content.”
I was looking into using a PDA + Skype with wireless broadband to replace my cell phone but the Verizon terms prohibit the use of VOIP. The short-sightedness is mindboggling.
I have to ask:
Jeff, your personal battle with Dell became a story. Now, it was valid and raised important points, but are you going to do the same with FedEx?
It smells (just a bit, my friend) of “I’m a journalist, don;t you dare f*ck with me.” Something Westbrook Pegler or Walter Winchell would have done…
No, I’m just saying what I said: FedEx misplaced the package. Now that you ask, I do believe that FedEx’s service and brand have gone downhill since they started the independent (and reportedly underpaid) FedEx Home service and we did get three packages that were delayed at Christmas despite guarantees and they were all with FedEx Home. But, no, I wasn’t going into all that, I was just saying that they misplaced the package, since you asked.
I have long been working with my rtx dualphone 3088 for quite some time now and I have to pronounce it is really a genuinely great bit of gear. see … this page
