A promotion

Over at Juan Cole’s site, I get a surprise promotion thanks to Sheldon Ramptom of the Center for Media & Democracy: from obnoxiously triumphal to merely occasionally obnoxious.

The post notes the frustration coming from Iraqi bloggers, including those who supported the invasion. I supported the invasion to unseat a dictator and bring democracy to Iraq. And, of course, there is cause for frustration: I, too, complained somtime ago that we made big mistake militarily. And now — this is what the post links to — is the local bloggers’ fears that we are at risk of blowing it politically. And that would be a tragedy. (Though I am glad that at least Rampton is not triumphal, in turn, about that.)

It’s also noted that I don’t write much about Iraq anymore. I don’t. Since I quit my job and changed my days, I concentrate mostly on media, broadly defined. I still post about politics and, like any blogger, reserve the option to post about anything. I regret that I have less time to concentrate on not just Iraq but international blogging.
