Who said…?
Who said that everybody’s famous for 15 links. I may want to use the line in a column and I want to attribute it for, unfortunately, I didn’t come up with it.
: Nevermind: I think I just found it. Who else would say such a wise and witty thing but David Weinberger? But I got it wrong. He said everybody’s famous for 15 people.

Ah, the “Matthew Effect” in action (in the form of “The A-list Cites The A-list”)

I remember originally reading that quote in either an early issue of WIred or an issue of Mondo 2000. (It may even have been in Reality Hackers.)

Everybody is famous in at least one area.

In the future, everyone will be famous…
…for 15 minutes.
…to 15 people.
…for 15 links.
…in their own mind’s ego and no where else. Warhol’s statement is just another myth, that somehow got legs.

When I said, “What ever happened to ‘15 minutes of fame?’ What is it now–15 links of fame?” to Shirley Peters (who then put it in her .plan), I was not (to the best of my knowledge) quoting anybody else. AFAIK, it was original to me.
Feel free to use the phrase however you see fit.
