[...] Finally business leaders are connecting the dots. A recent series of articles (thank you Tracy) in the New York Times (free registration required) and elsewhere point to an emerging realization of the importance of search engine optimization (SEO). Face it. We are now in a world where more and more of our interests and activities can be conveniently solved by search engines: real estate, driving directions (and send to your cell phone), calendar, and news.
[...] Jeff Jarvis parece não ver grande problema nesta adaptação da escrita aos alogorítmos dos motores de busca: The fear about SEO is that it dumbs-down or blunts-up the presentation of content to a search engine can understand what a story is about and lead readers interested in that topic to it. But I’m not so sure that simplicity, directness, and bluntness are so bad. How often have you read headlines and the first halves of overwritten newspaper and magazine stories wondering what the hell they are about? [...]

[...] Bloggers latched on to the story, with some seeming a bit gleeful that another old media practice is being forced to undergo some adaptation due to the Internet.
One of my continual complaints is about the power that the (three) search engines have over access to content. As the issue with overt censorship in China points out, if a site can't be found it, in effect, doesn't exist.

My rant here:
<a href="http://robertdfeinman.com/society/google_monopoly.html" rel="nofollow">Google Monopoly</a>

Failure to index material may be political or it may just be through poor indexing logic. Unique nouns work well, but other types of information don't fare as well. Images are particularly poorly handled, for example.
