Helping hand

Amy Alkon writes a very long post about a homeless artist she met at her Starbucks and here’s the kicker: Fellow blogger Jackie Danicki sets up a site for him and his art and gets him an email address so he can sell his art.

The BBC did an interview with a homeless blogger which has turned her into a minor celebrity - http://wanderingscribe.blogspot.com/ - which has encouraged other homeless bloggers to try and raise their profiles.

The blogosphere gets a new socio-grouping. Very good news.

  2. Thanks, Jeff! Gary’s already had $500 worth of commissions offers, so we’re thrilled - as is he. And we’ve got a local lawyer in Santa Monica who’s offering to do legal work for him pro bono. Gary’s over the moon. We appreciate the support!

On this topic, I suggest any and all check out my friend Linda Hattendorf’s excellent film “The Cats of Mirikitani” at the Tribeca Film Fest — it’s an amazing story of a homeless octagenarian artist whom she takes in after 911

Fantastic what Amy and Jackie accomplished. Gutterman’s art is really unique and so linear… cutting edge and vibrant.

The guy who launched the whole thing may have some salvation in the fact that his sheer audacity led to such kindness. Angels on the web. …

Musselman that is, and log on there!
A sad but kind of Freudian mistake –

I hope Gary gets a place to stay and can off the streets as soon as possible.
