No relation to Rotisserie Sklar, though who doesn't enjoy a nice tender chicken? I'm also not related to Seinfeld's wife, comedian twins the Sklar brothers, or web-design whiz Andrew Sklar. That, however, will not keep me from stealing "The Star Gazers" at some point in my baseball-playing future.

In a recent essay, Okrent good-naturedly worried that Fantasy Baseball -- not his distinguished career in journalism -- would be the substance of his epitaph. It's sad, but it's probably true.

I know Daniel Okrent as the founder of the original Rotisserie Baseball League, and have read his book about that league (great read, BTW, very funny). I recall that there was a Sklar in that league, and as it's an uncommon name I'll assume Rachel Sklar is related to the man who was part of the Rotisserie League. I mention that because if anyone else puts that connection together they will claim that Rachel Sklar, or a relative, is a buddy of Okrent's, and thus her piece is biased. Too bad the NYT and its apologists cannot see bias except when it involves criticism of them.

BTW, Daniel's team was the "Okrent Fenokees" and Sklar's the "Sklar Gazers".
