Photo follies, continued

Because I mentioned the controversy over photos of an apparent Lebanese rescue worker with dead children, I’ll link to this AP interview with the man known as green helmet. [via Greenslade]

An interesting argument is made by the communication scientist Mark Deuze in his post Hypocrisy over Pictures:

“Everyday, in every paragraph, print reporters ‘add smoke to alreading existing smoke’ - its called paradigmatic and syntagmatic selection or rather: choosing certain words (and not others) and putting these in a certain sequence in order to tell a story a certain way. Nobody ever seems to express shock about word-doctoring.”

Jeff - Why do you continue to insult the intelligence of your readers? So what if a photo is doctored, how do you even begin to explain 900 Lebanese dead (who, let’s not forget, had nothing to do with this war)?

Are you trying to say that the reports of the damage in Lebanon are being purposefully maginified by those who hate Israel? Could you be that delusional?

I guess you must be, because anyone who can ignore hundeds and hundreds of women, children and innocent civilians dead must either be delusional, or completely evil. Maybe your loyalty to Israel comes at any means possible, including murder (otherwise why would you choose to point out, and imply, that the damage is not as bad as reported, knowing so many have died and seeing REAL pictures of the destrcution). Or maybe you’re upset because your side lost? :)

Spinmaster–your name fits you well–just add hezbollah spinmaster and it’s perfect.
