You write that OhmyNews has not been replicated. Although they invite many people to their meetings, the first definite effort to replicate was only launched a few weeks ago - OhmyNews Japan.

It is much too early to know if this is working. The change seems to be from 'open progressive' to 'responsible participation'. The theory seems to be that Japanese citizen journalists will be less willing to criticise assumed ideas.

Opposite to the Netzeitung 'grand experiment in the future of news' the Readers-Edition in my opinion was poorly planned and poorley executed - and so is it acceptance.

You either initiate such a project on 'social media terms' or you don't.

[...] In the News Sep 20 at 4:59 am by Thord Hedengren -Jeff Jarvis has a column in The Guardian that he reposted on his blog about Readers-Edition. It’s a reader contributed German newspaper online, moderated by an editor and closely linked to its father, online only Netzeitung. Apparently it does it job superbly, showing the traditional journos over at Netzeitung a thing or two about bloggers and their workflow. [...]

[...] UPDATE: In an e-mail earlier today, Porkopolis pointed me to an item by Jeff Jarvis about a successful German totally-online newspaper effort. Notably, it was a ground-up effort, not some kind of brand extension. [...]

Another net-only 'newspaper' you should put on your radar is the Czech site aktualne.cz (www.aktualne.cz), which has hired some of the top investigative reporters in the country, and has been extremely active in breaking some pretty big stories (at least on the Czech scene).
