Yes, it can be bitter, vapid, pointless, toothless and crude.  But it can also be enlightening, entertaining, informative and illuminating.

(my next comment is going to sound like a CIF comment)

This bloviated whinger is angry about the very thing most writers strive for - A REACTION from readers.

And frankly some of the columns in CIF are just plain ignorant.

And he is an ARTS critic, blowing off steam about criticim?  Sheesh.</description>
