		<description>I think what these two video announcements show is the final acknowledgment that campaigns are now totally based upon soundbites (videobites?).

It's true that the internet is being used instead of buying TV time, but that may be because of the expense and the censorship function that commercial TV imposes. I doubt candidates are trying to reach the disinterested this early in the campaign, so a niche approach may be good enough. The politically active will find the announcements and (hopefully for the candidates) provide the early support needed to make a campaign credible.

Judging from the stringing together of code words and the lack of any sort of stand on issues this election (like all since Kennedy) will be based upon personality and "affect", not policy.

Fox has already started smearing Obama by innuendo. Here's a clip of their implying some sort of Muslim connection in his upbring. What is really clever is their attributing the smear to the Clinton campaign, those getting twice the bang for their buck:
