Murdoch victorious?
Andrew Neil, former Murdoch editor, writes in his magazine, the Business, that Murdoch has won his bid for Dow Jones. Haven’t seen this yet at WSJ.com or the NY Times. (via Media Guardian)
The world will not implode.
UPDATE: Dow Jones issued a release denying the story. (via Staci Kramer)

Why is Murdoch considered a tech-savvy publisher? Yes he bought MySpace, but MySpace really hasn’t grown much under his ownership, in fact its probably lost ground to Facebook. Fox News and the NY Post both have awful Web sites - not even looking at the actual content. They don’t allow comments, they’re poorly designed, and they dont do multimedia very well. Yet Murdoch is hailed as a hero who will usher the newspaper biz into the future. For all its feet dragging, the NY Times seems to be doing a much better job than any of the News Corp. sites. So what’s so great about Murdoch?

Does Times Select, charging to read content on a website, make any sense?, hardly.
