Under it all
I so like that underwear ad that’s over to the right right now that I think I might pay the advertiser to keep it. A reader complained that it is irrelevant advertising but I say: Isn’t underwear relevant to us all?
UPDATE: Michael Madej uses this to riff on the value of untargeted ads.

I commented on this ad on your blog but didn’t see a response. A crotch in colored underwear is a little distracting from your blog content. It’s all about where the eye goes when your page loads and it isn’t to the text! But I guess in American Apparel’s case, sex sells.

Jeff,
The underwear shows up as female on my screen; perhaps they could offer a button to change it to male (and back, I suppose)?

referring to someone who writes about/in response to your blog as “a reader” is a little undemocratic in the blog age, nay?

Alex,
At some point we just need to speak English.

A public media consultant I read (but won’t name here) also pointed out the underwear ad in a snide and complaining and dismissive way.
I can’t believe this is something over which people will willingly get their panties in a bunch. Har har.
Are we now going to be curmudgeons about underwear ads, too?
Good God. It’s like an ABC presidential debate around here… flag pins all around!
