I had to laugh at "killing extraneous buts." It's followed immediately by "But" I have a serious conjunction issue. I want to start every sentence with a conjunction to imply a connection to a previous thought. Internally it was connected. In writing starting a lot of sentences with "And, Or, Therefore, But" becomes a writers tick. Wish I knew the cure. I am a poorish writer, looking to improve.
