Well, the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press are down to 3 days of paper. Don't know how they'll call it. Some of us will really miss having paper in our hands, so I hope they don't get rid of paper--which is the reason for the "newspaper" change. What would I do without the Sunday NYTimes--in paper?

So. . . news editors, not newspaper editors
the Wurlitzer rather than a Cassavant
         Google library rather than Balliol
          Yamaha rather than Steinway
Pioneer rather than Bang & Olufsen
                NO THANKS....
Maybe some Luddite DNA resides within...

But I do prefer jet to propeller.

In response to this wonderful news, I wrote a short blog entry giving a birief history of the "National Microfilm Association" morphing through a series of name changes in response to changing technology. Today, they are in the process of becoming the "Enterprise Content Management Association"... Each of the four names they've used reflected changes in the technology of their area and, as a result, increased scope and opportunity for their members. See:

To me, that actually makes their moniker more truthful. I think they've been more focused on editing the actual NEWS we get, as opposed to editing how it's presented, for too many years.

While we're at it, NAA could stay NAA and lose the paper.

I suggested this back at a NAA conference in 1999 or so and was *this* close to being burned at the stake.

Yeah...once they drop the word "editors" it will just be "the American Society" which makes a lot of sense since anyone and everyone can contribute news reports, videos, photos, etc.
