Pardon Martha

I just saw Martha Stewart showing off the pottery creche she made while in prison. Cool on her.

It made me think that with all the news of presidential pardons, Martha should get one. While she was in jail, throwing clay, the real criminals of Wall Street were undertaking the real crimes.

Don’t get your logic, assuming there is logic. Why are they alternatives? Rich white women who make pots don’t go to jail? Is that the logic?

She lied to prosecutors. Get over it.

You have a very, very odd idea of justice over there…

The only reason she was prosecuted in the first place was because her public stature. It didn’t hurt the prosecutor, who brought Ms. Stewart trial and got a conviction, when he enters back into private practice. President Bush shouold give a pardon to her. He has done it for drug smugglers, tax-evaders, etc. Give Martha a break and let her vote once again and have the legal right to pack heat!

Yeah Martha was a Real BIG fish wasn’t she.

Bill Clinton Lied to a Federal Judge, Why didn’t he go to jail?

Has anyone gone to jail for the Freddie / Fanny debacle?? Hell no.

There is no true justice in America any more.

Money , Power & Corruption have taken over.

This is not a logic problem because you seemingly are ignorant about what a presidential pardon is all about. She was convicted of a crime and was punished. GW has already pardoned others convicted of similar crimes and will likely grant more before leaving office. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_pardoned_by_George_W._Bush

Think of Jeff’s post as a great conversation starter for some tough dialogue that will need to occur. Your vitriolic response demonstrates how challenging these conversations are really going to be.

Accepting that our system is deeply broken is a good thing.
