: What joy: Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat hypocrite, too.
The National Enquirer broke the story: Rush's ex-cleaning lady said she was his contact to a black-market drug ring from which Rush allegedly bought thousands -- thousands -- of prescription painkillers: OxyContin, Lorcet, and hydrocodone.The Enquirer story is not up yet; the Daily News said it confirmed the investigation:
Cline told the Enquirer she went to prosecutors with information about Limbaugh and others after four years of drug deals that included clandestine handoffs in a Denny's parking lot.
She said she wore a wire during her last two deliveries to the conservative commentator and gave the tapes to authorities.
She also gave the Enquirer a ledger documenting how many pills she claimed to have bought for him - 4,350 in one 47-day period - and E-mails she claimed Limbaugh sent her.
In one missive, Limbaugh pushed Cline to get more "little blues" - code for OxyContin, the powerful narcotic nicknamed hillbilly heroin, she said.
"You know how this stuff works ... the more you get used to, the more it takes," the May 2002 E-mail reads. "But I will try and cut down to help out."
Howard Stern is having a party this morning. They talked about it for two hours. They played Rush's speech, live, to the National Association of Broadcasters, hoping he'd be honest enough to say something (he wasn't). Mike Walker from the Enquirer called in and they read some of Rush's own quotes on drug users and what we should do with them. And that's what makes this so joyful: Anyone who sets himself up as a moral judge sets himself up for judgment.

: What I also like about this is that it's a better bit of dirt than the ESPN brouhaha. Rush had to quit his short-lived sports-network career because he criticized media for being uncritical of a black quarterback because he was black. Much PC gasping and a resignation ensued. The allegedly offending words:
"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL," Limbaugh had said. "The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."
Now I don't watch football, so I have no idea how good a quarterback McNabb is or isn't. I have no idea whether Limbaugh's right or wrong. But I do think that he should be allowed to question and criticize the media even on the taboo subject of race. We have to get past this PC hypersensitivity if we're ever going to have honest discussion in public forums. Howard Stern does that; Rush Limbaugh should be able to as well.
But I didn't want to defend Limbaugh. I can't stand the obnoxious, GOP toady and self-righteous gasbag. So I'm glad we all have something else to criticize him for. Thank you, Rush. Thank you, cleaning lady. Thank you, Enquirer.

C'mon. There's no vast left-wing conspiracy here. Rush opened his yap and got in trouble for it -- all the quicker because he is so obnoxious and the people he attacks relish the opportunity to attack him. Rush's cleaning lady reported his alleged drug use to authorities and we're jumping on him because he set himself up as a moral beacon.
What goes around, comes around.
